Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use Zoom?

If you have never used Zoom before, you can watch this very good, simple video tutorial that will walk you through your first Zoom session. It really is simple once you have given it a try.

Click here to watch the Zoom tutorial video.

Do I have to use the video with Zoom?

Part of the benefit of joining the coaching is the support you receive from others in the group. It is helpful when getting to know people to be able to see them and so we do encourage you to use the video.

I haven’t got a laptop or tablet. Is there any other way of joining the coaching?

You can use Zoom on a smartphone.

If you haven’t got any of these devices there are local charities that may be able to help. Please contact your Social Prescriber if you live in the Craven area they will check what help is available.

How do I join the coaching sessions?

Once we have received your enrolment form and payment, you will receive an email invitation a few days before your coaching session. Click on the Zoom link in the invitation to join the session.

Please check your junk or spam folder if you do not receive an email.

When will I receive the Zoom link to the coaching session?

We will invite you to your coaching each week, a couple of days before the session is due.

Please check your junk or spam folder if you do not receive an email.

How do I qualify for funding?

We work with various partners and have secured funding to support specific projects. If you are experiencing financial hardship please contact your Social Prescriber team or us and we will check available funding.

I’m not good at talking in groups, will I have to talk or share in the group?

We will ask questions in the sessions and for volunteers to share experiences. We are a friendly bunch and we do not pick on people.  You share what you want to in the sessions. However, in our experience, people who do ask questions of themselves and share their experience gain a lot more from the coaching.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for the coaching sessions?

As part of the coaching you are committing to making some lifestyle changes. To help you with this, there is ‘homework’ for you to do after each session.

Completing your homework and reviewing your progress each week is part of your preparation.

Before you start Live Better it is a really good idea to watch the Introductory Presentation. We will send you a link to all the coursework when you are fully enrolled.

What happens at the end of the coaching course?

You choose what happens next. There are a range of Eat, Move, Be Happy coaching programmes to help you change your habits for the long term (click here to see them). There are also other options for support which we will discuss with you as part of the coaching.

We also have an option for you to continue to benefit from weekly coaching sessions on the completion of the 12 weeks of Live Better. Again we will discuss options with you as part of the coaching.

Where do I find more information about the coaching course?

You can see the coaching programmes we have available on our front page here. From there, simply click on the programme you are interested in, and you will be shown more information.

Do I have to do The First Step before Live Better?

No. You can start Live Better without completing the First Step.

The First Step is aimed at people who find themselves starting and stopping lifestyle changes, or people who do not know where to start. It helps set you up for success.

If you are not sure if First Step is right for you, it probably is.

For more information about The First Step, click here.

Do I have to pay by PayPal? I haven’t got an account.

PayPal is a secure and safe way of making your payment if you are self-funded. You can use PayPal without having an account. You can sign out as a guest.

How do I enrol for more than one coaching programme?

Just complete a fresh enrolment form for each programme. The options are indicated on the form.

Can I have individual coaching?

Yes. We do offer individual coaching, subject to availability. Theses sessions last 1 hour and are £40 per session. These can be one-off sessions to help you gain clarity on how you might change your lifestyle choices for the better, or they can follow the content of our group programmes.

How many people will be in my group?

Our coaching programmes are group sessions. For First Step and Wellbeing Coaching the maximum number of people per session is 6. For Live Better the maximum number of people is 12.

Move Better, our exercise session also works with a maximum of 12 people per session.

When I enrol how long will I have to wait before I can start my coaching?

We understand that once you have made a decision to invest in your health and wellbeing you will want to get stuck in! We run our 3 week programmes, First Step and Wellbeing Coaching, monthly starting the first Monday and Wednesday of each month respectively. So the longest you will have to wait is 4 weeks if you enrol at the beginning of a month and miss the first session.

Live Better is a rolling 12 week programme and we have people joining the group at different times and leaving when they have completed the content over their 12 weeks. This means everyone covers the content, just in a different order depending on when you start. You can start Live Better in any week, so the longest you would have to wait is 7 days.
